PLAN OF THE LAKE AND LOCATION OF THE OBSERVATION BUILDING
PLAN OF THE LAKE AND LOCATION OF THE OBSERVATION BUILDING
The project aims at protecting and breeding the world's most endangered turtle species and, arguably one of the world’s rarest animals, the Swinhoe’s Softshell Turtle (Rafetus swinhoei).

During 2007, at Dong Mo Lake in Ha Tay province, a wild Rafetus swinhoei was observed and photographed, representing the first confirmation of the species in the wild and only the fourth individual of the species known in existence.
For these reasons; Don Mo lake is the favoured location to bring these wild animals together so as to recreate a controlled environment for captive breeding.
For this mission to be accomplished, ATP asked Building Trust International to help design the breeding facility on the coast of a little island located in the middle of the lake. As part of this facility there will be an observation tower facing 3 directions so as to be able to observe and control the majority of surroundings.
In the building there will also be a laboratory and a bedroom for the researcher living on site.
The chosen construction method uses CNC cut wood, so that all items can be prefabricated and then transported to site and assembled. So that the unpolluted natural environment where the facility will be located can be maintained without spoiling the area.
